Swayambhunath Stupa

Monkey Temple - Kathmandu, Nepal

Located in northwest Kathmandu valley, the Swayambhunath Stupa (temple) is believed to date back to 460 AD, one of the oldest and holiest Buddhist temples in Nepal.

Legends say that the temple grew out of a lotus flower from the center of a lake that once covered the valley and that the greatness of Kathmandu started from this point.

The Swayambhunath Stupa is commonly named "Monkey Temple" by tourists due the the high volume of monkeys that call the temple grounds home.

Masala Chai

Ancient Spiced Black Tea

Thought to have been sought out by ancient kings thousands of years ago in search of a tea that would act as a medicinal beverage. Masala chai was not made with tea, but with spices.

Though many variations of spices are used to make masala chai across South Asia, the primary ingredients are black tea, green cardamom, cinnamon, black pepper, ginger, cloves, and star anise.

These ingredients create a warm and filling drink that benefit the body by reducing inflammation, boosting immunity, aiding in digestion, containing antioxidants, and increasing energy levels.
